************IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ MESSAGE BELOW************

Due to our large backlog of appointments and increased demand for Optometry services we are unable to provide emergency care to new patients at this time. This includes referrals from family doctors for urgent care. Our emergency appointments will be provided to current patients of Kanata Optometry Centre on a first come basis. We have a limited number of daily emergency appointments. If you are currently a patient of Kanata Optometry Centre and require an emergency eye exam please call and check for availability. If you are not a patient of our clinic currently please try another local Optometry Office or your nearest emergency department.

Our doctors advise that all patients with after-hour eye emergencies proceed to your local hospital emergency room for immediate assistance.

Please read the following regarding our emergency appointment protocol:

  • Ocular emergencies are triaged and some patients may not receive a same-day appointment but will be offered an appointment within a time-frame determined to be appropriate based on the type of emergency.
  • Although our large group of doctors work very hard to accommodate emergency appointments, if our office is unable to provide care in a time-frame suitable to the needs of your eye emergency we will recommend seeking more immediate care at your local hospital or walk-in-clinic.
  • Some ocular emergencies may be directed to local emergency rooms directly without an appointment at our clinics.
  • All emergency eye care appointments seen at our clinics will be assigned an appointment time and the doctor will attempt to see you at your scheduled time, however in-office waiting time may vary depending on our scheduling.
