The Dry Eye Clinic at Kanata Optometry Centre is a patient-focused centre for complete dry eye care.

Dry eye disease is a symptom NOT a diagnosis

Dry eye disease is notoriously underdiagnosed and undertreated even though it affects millions of people worldwide in different ways and severities.

Our process starts with a comprehensive dry eye workup including a complete diagnosis and customized treatment plan through CSI Dry Eye Software. The CSI Dry Eye Software is an innovative, AI-powered clinical platform that applies advanced, evidence-based algorithms to uncover the underlying causes and associations behind Dry Eye Disease.

Technologies We Use Include:

MYAH

Topcon MYAH takes high quality specialized images of the meibomian glands, tear meniscus, and tear break up times among others, giving our doctors an in-depth view of contributing factors and allowing us to compare data overtime for changes.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

InMode Lumecca-I is a broad-spectrum intense pulse light delivery system that reduces inflammatory blood vessels caused by chronic blepharitis and activates mitochondria to improve the function of the Meibomian glands. Often a series of sessions is needed for best results.

RF (Radiofrequency)

InMode Forma I is a treatment designed to relieve the symptoms of dry eye disease caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). It works by using targeted heat to open clogged production in the delicate skin around the eyes. The treatment is quick, painless, non-invasive, and requires no downtime. Often a series of sessions is needed for best results.

BlephEx

Blephex is an in-office procedure that uses a handheld device to clean and exfoliate the edges of the eyelids. It removes scurf, debris, and biofilm caused by bacteria, which helps treat chronic conditions like blepharitis and dry eye. The procedure can reduce symptoms such as itching, redness, and inflammation.

Amniotic Membranes

An in-office treatment where a membrane made from donated amniotic tissue is applied to the surface of the eye to deliver stem cells and healing proteins which jump-starts the healing process for eyes damaged by severe dryness. The membrane dissolves into the eye as it provides healing. Once the eye is healed, other treatment options can be pursued.
